The unfortunate reality of rescue work is that we often times intake equine who have been severely malnourished. They arrive at HorseWhiskey with body scores of zero or one. We may also have equine come in with other issues that have not been addressed by previous owners.
We limit or restrict adoption of these until their rehab is finished to ensure they are ready for their forever. Below you will find information on equine currently in rehab, and will be available for adoption in the future.
As you can imagine, vet and feed bills for these can add up quickly! If you would like to support any of the horses below, we would appreciate your donation! It is quick and easy by clicking the donate button on our home page.
This sweet mare is Emma. Emma was a save on 01/09/2020 from the Cleburne, Tx auction. Severely malnourished and emaciated, Emma was so defeated that she couldn't even stand on her own. With the help of our incredible donors, we were able to save Emma and four other very skinny horses. After arriving at our rescue, Emma laid down and could not get back up on her own. Since then, she has been spending time in and out of a sling while she continues on a refeeding program. She is showing signs of gaining strength. She has settled right in and knows the voices of her people. Emma has a whole new future ahead of her. In the mean time she is going to continue to hang out and eat, drink and be loved on! Emma LOVES LOVES LOVES alfalfa and Equine Senior Active - donations of either of these items, or financial donations specifically for Emma, are greatly appreciated!
Meet Dolby! This gorgeous guy is as sweet as they make them. He is quiet on the ground and loves attention. Dolby is young (3-4yr), and arrived at HorseWhiskey with several injuries to his back legs. He is nicely halter broke, but we are unsure yet if he is broke to ride. Once he heals up, we will know more. Keep checking in for updates on this handsome guy!
Look at him now!
